Calatrava.

5196, 5227, 5119, 5235, 6119. Dress watches with real collector premiums on full-stainless and platinum variants.

Reference detail

The Calatrava is Patek's core dress-watch line, and it appraises differently from the sport models — there's no "hype premium" the way a Nautilus or Aquanaut carries, so pricing is closer to a straightforward function of metal content, complication, and condition. Full-stainless-steel examples (a departure from Patek's usual precious-metal norm) are the exception — they're genuinely rarer and carry a real premium over an equivalent gold-cased piece, which surprises some clients who assume steel is always the "cheaper" option.

The 5235 annual-calendar dial adds a real functional complication over a plain time-only Calatrava, and platinum-cased examples (identifiable by the diamond hallmark at 6 o'clock) sit at the top of the line's precious-metal tier. As with any dress watch, dial condition and hand originality matter — a well-preserved, unrestored dial holds value better than a redial, even at the same reference.
